What's funny is that I started writing a comment below and saw this in your linked article: "Sign your review. Or, if you can’t bring yourself to do that, at least write your review as if the author will learn your identity and you wouldn’t be embarrassed."

Anonymity makes it easier to provide honest criticism or voice unpopular or controversial opinions, which is an important reason behind why peer reviews are blinded. When a colleague will know the name of the reviewer who stopped him from being accepted into a conference, it's reasonable to worry that he might hold a grudge over that.

I am not ashamed to claim that something I said is mine, but I don't see any reason to stir up academic drama. It's just bad PR. :)

It's true that anonymity might give you a certain reassurance that you can speak freely and without conflict of interests. On the other hand, by signing with your name you commit to your blog as your voice, to what you think and what you believe, and most importantly you're less prone to deplorable situations like gossip. When I read this post I remembered an article I read sometime ago about tips for writing reviews and one of the tips was actually to sign your reviews. One of the things the author comments is that "human beings do not display their best behavior when they are cloaked behind the mask of anonymity". What do you think?

Twenty two on the twenty second? That's pretty neat. (I turned sixteen on the sixteenth in September several years ago, lol.) It's so great that you're doing what you love. It seems there's a serious shortage of that in the world these days. Kudos to you, and happy birthday!
